Web/Print Methodology

 

On our first scheduled meeting we will discuss the requirements needed for your project. Any divisions or members of your company with specific requirements for the project should be present. Depending on the service you request please try to prepare any materials you feel will help facilitate the requirements session.

 

If your company has developed any corporate identity guidelines or branding documentation please provide a copy for us so we may examine more closely the vision set out by the stakeholders.

Web Overview

Requirements
We gatherer necessary information to facilitate your web sites development. Be prepared to talk about an estimated number of pages, how many categories you think the site will need i.e. home,about us, contact, products etc.. Any pre-existing timeline restrictions.

Clients Objectives
Here we ascertain what it is you wish to accomplish on your web site. i.e. Shopping cart, e-mail notifications, password protected areas, monthly newsletters, etc…

Clients Site Evaluation
If you currently have a web site and are looking to improve it we will provide you with an evaluation based on current industry standards and your competitors. Evaluations of your current sites capability can help you see clearly your strengths and weaknesses online and what areas of your site you should improve.

Competitors Site Evaluation
We will do a competitor’s site evaluation so you can see what functionality and information your current competitors have what you may want to consider if you don’t have it already. Being aware of your competition can give you an edge when you are planning to provide future services for your customers.

Set technical specifications
This is where we decide based on the information we gathered what design specifications your site will meet. i.e.

  • Platform (PC, Mac, Web TV)
  • Browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator)
  • Screen resolution (640 x 480 pixels, 800 x 600, 768 x1024pixels)
  • Internet connection rate (28.8K, 56K)
  • Internet connection location (home, work, public terminal)

Information architecture
Information architecture is the flow of information that users come to your site and need to find. By planning in advance what it is your users will need and where they will find it is critical to your web site success.  We will provide all the documentation around your websites architecture including site-maps for final approval.

Design
is a crucial part of web site development because it reflects your company’s personality it is important that it provides what it is you want the consumer to see. Design Prototype
The design prototype is a functioning design to demonstrate to you how your web site navigation and category pages shall look and flow. The prototype will include all top level pages and layouts.

Design Prototype Revisions
Site Style Document (provided on request)
You will have a 5 day period to make changes to the prototype. After this period will will provide you with an revised prototype based on your changes. Site style document outlines font sizes, picture sizes, link colors etc…
The document provides all necessary information to maintain your web site consistently.

Quality Assurance and testing
We will check your site before it goes live to the public by performing some of the following test:

  • Cross browser testing
  • functionality testing,
  • proof reading
  • link verification

Client or administrator Tutorial (provided on request)
This information provides the sites administrator with the necessary information to maintain your web site. This will include source files and all relevant documentation.

Print Prototype
The design prototype is a working draft of the final design.This is created so that as we move to a final version copy and images may be confirmed and corrected of errors.

Print Prototype Revisions
The designer working with the client makes changes to fonts, colors, photographs etc.. As we move to developing the printers mechanical.

Proofing/Blueprint
The proof or blueprint is the first run of the printed document. Given to the designer so they may correct any color variations or inconsistencies before the final run. We will meet with you to review and assure your expectations are met.
